The Preamble sets forth the purpose and mission of the Northern Neck Baptist Association and its Commissions.
We, the member churches of the Northern Neck Baptist Association, in order to promote and perfect a program of effective witnessing according to the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by His concern for all mankind throughout His earthly ministry: pledge ourselves to fulfill the commands of Christ as recorded in Matthew 25:35-40, “To minister to the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the stranger, the prisoner the poor in spirit,” to be a resource to the member churches, to lend support to Virginia Union University, The Baptist General Convention, the Lott Carey Convention and the Children’s Home of Virginia Baptist.
The theme for each year is introduced at the Annual Session, which is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after the second Sunday in July. The meetings rotate according to the member counties and churches. All Commissions participate at various times on the program. During the year, executive board meetings are held in October, December and April.
Association activities during the year include:
The Fall Workshop - held in November with classes for the officers or positions in the church:
The One-Day Session - held in February starts with a devotional period, business session, updates on Virginia Union University, the Baptist General Convention and a program including an inspirational message:
The Winter Institute - held for a week at the end of February starts with a devotional period, classes for adults and youth, and in inspirational message.
The Prayer, Praise and Songfest - held on the last Wednesday in May with a prayer/praise period and an inspirational message.
The Northern Neck Baptist Association and its Commissions each grant scholarships to qualifying students during the year.
It is a priority that the Association provides programs, which add to the quality of life for persons in the Northern Neck.
